WEST TRAVIS COUNTY PUBLIC UTILITY AGENCY

12" WASTEWATER FORCE MAIN & 12" EFFLUENT FORCE MAIN

EXTENSION/BOHL’S FORCE MAIN

PROJECT SUMMARY

The West Travis County Public Utility Agency (WTCPUA) extended a 12” force main from the Galleria area in Bee Cave, Texas, to the existing Bohl’s wastewater treatment plant. This project consisted of approximately 10,000 linear feet of force main to be installed in a highly traveled and environmentally sensitive area. Erosion control and environmental protection measures were important to the City of Bee Cave. Additionally, the City of Bee Cave was concerned with installing this force main within Bee Cave Parkway, a highly traveled feeder street that serves numerous apartment complexes. Considering the Bee Cave Parkway ROW horizontal jack, the necessity of boring across the road, and shutting down one lane of the road to install the force main, traffic control was a key issue. Our on-site construction inspector specialized in all of those fields and provided construction observation for the entire project.

Our team also prepared redline progress drawings that indicated the contractor's weekly progress and highlighted any deviations from the original plans and specifications. We coordinated with the City of Bee Cave for the road shutdown and followed the requirements set forth by the city.

Given the dense population of the area, our construction inspector dealt with public complaints and questions and directed them to the design engineer for further review. Once an answer was given, we relayed that information back to the public and kept the people happy throughout the construction period. Once the contractor was finished, our team walked the site with the contractor to determine punch list items and saw through to the completion of the punch list items so that final retainage could be released.
